Rob Zombie, a lifelong John Carpenter fan was able to make dreams come true when he remade Halloween. The director was able to create a sequel as well. Both Halloween films focused on finding out who was the man behind the mask and the brutality of Myers. Halloween wasn’t the first time that Zombie had made a John Carpenter film though.

During a Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Zombie talked about the time that he and his friends in high school got together and filmed a sequel to Chape soti nan New York. It was a direct sequel to Carpenter’s film that featured Zombie and his friends all taking on the roles of the film as well as taking on all responsibilities of cast and crew.

During Rogan’s podcast Zombie goes into his love of Carpenter’s films with an emphasis on Chape soti nan New York. When Zombie was eventually given the chance to make Halloween, Zombie refused to make the film without Carpenter’s being okay with it. Getting that okay took some convincing. Carpenter wanted nothing to do with any remake of his work at the time. Carpenter refused to even look at the project. After meeting with Carpenter and going over the direction that Zombie wanted to take the franchise, Carpenter finally gave Zombie the keys to Myer’s castle.

The idea of Zombie creating an Chape soti nan New York sequel is all I can think about since listening to him talk about it. He doesn’t go into the details or the story direction but seeing a dirty dystopia touched by Zombie’s DNA seems like the perfect combo of ingredients. I can already hear all of you groaning and screaming at me right now, but I can’t help think that Zombie living in and recreating New York through the lens of Carpenter’s prison island would be a perfect fit.

I wish Rogan had stopped Zombie in his tracks and asked him to describe every detail about Zombie’s Chape soti nan New York sequel. But, Rogan allows Zombie to pass over it. I can’t wait to get my next chance to interview Zombie because I want to talk about his sequel in all of its details. I also want to know if Zombie would want to make that sequel if given a chance. What direction would he want to take that in now?
